When you install Windows Intune Client Agent on your computers, you will see some new programs and services running on your client installations.
Here is a list of programs and services the Windows Intune Agent will install and description of what they are used for.
Microsoft Easy Assist v2
This component is for Remote Assistance request, and can be accessed from the Windows Intune Center.
Microsoft Online Management Policy Agent
Microsoft Online Management Policy Agent is responsible for applying policies to the client, and to report hardware/software inventory.
Microsoft Online Management Update Manager
This component is responsible for updating the client status to the Windows Intune online service. It consists of the service “Microsoft Updates Online Management Service”.
Microsoft Policy Platform
The Microsoft Policy Platform is a model-based policy management platform. It consists of the services “Microsoft Platform Policy Local Authority” and “Microsoft Platform Policy Processor”.
System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Agent
The System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Agent is responsible for monitoring the client system. It consists of the services “System Center Management” and “Operations Manager Audit Forwarding Service” and is a customized version of the client agent from System Center Operations Manager.
Windows Firewall Configuration Provider
This component applies the Windows Intune defined firewall settings to the client.
Windows Intune Center
The Windows Intune Center is accessed from the Desktop or Start Menu, it allows the users to access the primary user components in Windows Intune (Windows Intune Updates, Windows Intune Endpoint Protection and Microsoft Easy Assist).
Windows Intune Endpoint Protection
This component is similar to the client version from the Forefront Endpoint Protection Suite, it protect the client from virus and spyware.
Windows Intune Endpoint Protection Agent
The Windows Intune Endpoint Protection Agent is responsible for applying Endpoint Protection settings, which are defined in the Windows Intune console.
Windows Intune Monitoring Agent
This component is responsible for getting the System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Agent to communicate client status to Windows Intune online service.
