Today at TechED 2013 in New Orleans the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager and Service Pack 1 Overview WCA-B328 also contained some very need news about the upcoming ConfigMgr 2012 R2 release. Below are the info that I managed to take from a very awesome presentation.
Windows 8.1
- support for a lightweight ConfigMgr agent (BYOD) scenarios
- Corp owned devices still have the “full” ConfigMgr agent
Mobile device management with Intune
Some of the key take aways from the session was:
- Selective wipe
- New branding options for the portal
- Company Apps for IOS and Android
- Software push support for IOS
- Workplace support
Company ressource access control
enables you to control stuff like:
- Corporate VPN profiles for various vendors like Cisco, Jupiter, F5 and more
- Manage WIFI profiles
- Manage certs
- Application can trigger a VPN connection
Some of the infrastructure changes
- You can re-assign clients between ConfigMgr sites in the same hierarchy
- Restore SQL to different server
- DP utility monitoring report
Other cool stuff that was mentioned
- Native 64 bit PowerShell module
- Limited WinPE 3.1 support
- RBA for reporting

This release includes new Out of Band? I’m implementing Out of Band and I have clients with AMT versions 5.1 and 6.1 and does not work. The documentation does not mention these versions like SCCM 2012 SP1 on the status of AMT sends the message “Not Supported”. Thank you very much.
