Downloading Configuration Manager 2012 prerequisites

If you like I have a demo environment with no Internet connection then you are also required to download the Configuration Manager 2012 prerequisites file prior to starting the installation.

Open a command prompt with administrative permissions
Navigate to .\Configuration Manager 2012 Install source\smssetup\bin\X64
Run SetupDL.exe target dir (in my example SetupDL.exe D:\CM2012DL
The total download size is 192 mb. and the total number of files is 14 with SQL Express and .Net Framework 4.0 being the largest files.

Hi Kent,

Well it did not work for me tried to copy the source folder to a x64 machine (XP) to download the updates as that machines is connected to internet but i get some function error pointing to shell32.dll.

Would you have any clues on it ?

Nice post! I put an invalid path as target dir and it prompted me for a path. So I canceled out and double clicked the exe and it popped up and prompted me for a path.

I am getting same error I am able to download file out of 56 only 41 for 42 it is getting stuck and getting below error.

SCCM version : 2012

An error has occurred while attempting to download or verify required prerequisite components and setup cannot continue. review the configmgrsetup.log file further details.

Can some one help on this.

unable to download prereqs at all. all the workarounds that are found on the internet have been tried but no luck 🙁 does anyone have them .zipp’ed somewhere maybe?
